New to Pilates?
You belong here.
We'll meet you exactly where you are — and make sure your first experience with Pilates feels empowering, not overwhelming.
Book My First Session"Your first experience with Pilates should feel empowering — not overwhelming. That's exactly what we're here for."
At Embody, we don't throw new clients into a group class and hope for the best. Every new student starts with our Pilates Prep Series — three private sessions designed to give you a real foundation before you ever step into a group setting.
The Pilates Prep Series
If you're new to Pilates equipment — or have very little experience — we ask that you begin with our Pilates Prep Series before joining any group equipment class. This isn't a hurdle. It's a gift to yourself.
Three private, one-on-one sessions with an instructor who is fully focused on you, your body, and your goals. No comparing yourself to the person on the next reformer. No trying to follow along while figuring out the springs. Just you, your instructor, and a real introduction to what Pilates can do for you.
By the time you finish, you'll walk into any group class at Embody feeling prepared, confident, and genuinely excited to move.
What's included
Five things covered in every prep series
We introduce the core principles of the Pilates method — breath, alignment, and mindful movement — so you understand not just what you're doing, but why it works.
Get fully acquainted with the Reformer, Tower, and other equipment. Learn the springs, straps, bars, and settings so the machine works for you — not against you.
Learn how to connect with your deep stabilizing muscles — the foundation of every Pilates exercise — in a way that actually makes sense for your body.
Build body awareness and learn how to move efficiently so every rep counts — and so you can feel the difference Pilates makes from session one.
Modifications, proper form, and how to listen to your body — because we want you practicing Pilates for years to come, not sidelined after your first month.
"By session three, you'll walk into any group class ready — and genuinely excited to be there."
Good technique makes all the difference
Pilates is one of the most effective movement practices out there. It's also one where technique matters enormously. Jumping into a group class without a foundation can lead to frustration, confusion, or injury — none of which is a good first impression.
The Prep Series exists because we believe your first experience with Pilates should set you up to love it — not leave you wondering if it's for you.
You'll never feel lost
In a group class, instructors can't stop to explain equipment from scratch. The Prep Series means you already know the ropes before you arrive.
You'll get more out of every class
Students who complete the Prep Series progress faster, feel results sooner, and enjoy Pilates more. The foundation pays off immediately.
It's personal from day one
Your instructor will get to know your body, your history, and your goals in a way that shapes your entire Embody experience going forward.
Things new students often ask
No experience needed. If you're new to reformer Pilates or would like a refresher, we ask that you start with our Pilates Prep Series — three private one-on-one sessions that introduce you to the equipment and build your foundation before joining a group class. If you already have reformer experience from another studio or instructor, you can book directly into a group class — if you aren't sure what level class to take, just reach out and we'll help.
Only if you're new to reformer Pilates or would like a refresher. If you already have reformer experience — whether from another studio, a previous practice, or working with a private instructor — you can jump straight into group classes. If you aren't sure what level class to take, just reach out and we'll help. The Prep Series is designed specifically for those who have never used reformer equipment before, or those returning after time away, so they feel confident and comfortable from day one.
Not necessarily — it depends on how quickly you pick things up. Most new clients benefit from all three sessions to build a solid foundation, but if your instructor feels you're ready after two, we'll credit the remaining session to your account to use toward group classes or privates. Our goal is to set you up for success, not to keep you in prep longer than you need to be.
Not at all. Pilates meets you where you are. Whether you're coming off an injury, haven't exercised in years, or are already active — the Prep Series is designed for your body right now.
Each private session is 50 minutes. We recommend completing all three within your first few weeks to build momentum and retention between sessions.
Comfortable, form-fitting workout clothes work best — leggings and a fitted top are ideal. Avoid anything too loose or baggy, as your instructor needs to see your alignment.
Pilates is one of the most rehabilitation-friendly movement practices available. Please let us know about any injuries or conditions when you book — we'll make sure your sessions are adapted safely.
You're ready for any group equipment class on our schedule! Your instructor will also make recommendations based on your goals and what they observed during your sessions.
