“My years of clinical experience influenced my philosophy and mission to help others achieve their physical, mental and spiritual goals.”
– Embody Owner/Founder, Jodie Gordon
JODIE M. GORDON, LCSW-C
The philosophy behind Embody Pilates & Wellness began in 1984…with a pair of jeans.
“I started taking fitness classes when I was 14 to stay in shape and fit into my favorite jeans!” explains Jodie M. Gordon, Baltimore’s leading fitness expert specializing in the balance of mind and body to achieve overall wellbeing. Over the years, I realized it was the best way to manage stress, look good and, most importantly, feel amazing.”
Jodie wants her clients to feel the exact same way -- and she has been helping others who want to feel strong and confident since 2001.
Embody Pilates & Wellness is the culmination of Jodie’s commitment to the mind-body connection. After earning her Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Maryland, Jodie extended her specialty to include personal training and Pilates instruction. She began leading both private and group classes in addition to her social work. In 2001, Jodie created the Pilates Program at Meadow Mill Athletic Club and then expanded it in 2004 to include state-of-the-art equipment.
Her work at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, helping children with significant medical, development and emotional challenges, gave Jodie even more clarity about the mind-body connection.
“It helped me truly understand the importance of movement—and learn to view individuals based on their strengths instead of their limitations,” she explains. “My years of clinical experience influenced my philosophy and mission to help others achieve their physical, mental and spiritual goals.”
Embody Pilates & Wellness combines the highest values of the mind and body connection—fusing Pilates, yoga and barre classes, in addition to Jodie’s psychotherapy practice.
“I want you to get an incredible workout and enjoy yourself—at the same time,” explains Jodie. “Whether you have inches to shed, strength and flexibility to build, are injured or you just want a challenging and hard-core workout, I offer a supportive and encouraging environment for you to reach your goals.”
